Green interior and wheels, black exterior with red pinstriping. Rockaway style provided cover and comfort for driver (note roof over exterior driver's seat) as well as passengers. Canvas foul-weather flaps rolled up. The extension front on this model added room for more passengers behind driver's seat.

A cabriolet was a one-horse carriage with a coachman's seat, a two-passenger seat, and a folding top. The "Victoria" label was added when the concept was brought from France to England in the time of Queen Victoria. Note the 10-spoke diamond wheel hubs on this model.

"Panel-boot" refers to the enclosed area under the drivers's seat, a storage compartment commonly used to carry the coachman's gear or loose hay for the horse. This feature became part of the style name.

Landau style is defined as a full coach with a retractable top, and was typically heavy, complicated, and expensive (Berkebile 1977). Shown here with the top down. Front and rear seats face each other. This model has green interior upholstery, and red pinstriping and wheel rims.

Written note in upper right corner: "May 28 full of ell pgs no step covers." "Berlin" style included two interior seats and a hooded rear seat for a footman. It came from the original style in Germany as "Berline" and the "e" was dropped after it became popular in England.

Baggage rack bars on top and high second driver's seat on roof, too. Interior likely has seats along each side facing inward. Lettering "Frank Parmalee Co." on side identify a well-known Chicago transportation company, shuttled people and packages between the railroads and hotels. Because many of Parmalee's vehicles were made by a Chicago manufacturer, it's not clear is this one was built by Cunningham, or is in Baker's collection for reference.
